Varna is the largest port city as well as seaside and holiday resort in Bulgaria. Situated on the Western side of the Black Sea on the coast, it is the 2nd largest city in the country after that of the capital Sofia. It is often referred to as the Marine or Summer Capital of Bulgaria during the summer months with its influx of tourists and daily commuter workers.
 
Varna is the big cultural and financial centre as well as important transport junction of the country. It is now the centre of a growing conurbation stretching along the seaboard 20km to the North ,10km to the South and inland to the West around 35km, this being mostly commercial and industrial and residential to the North and South. Famous sea resorts of St. Constantine and Elena, Golden Sands and Albena are situated to the north from Varna.  You can find out more aout the history of Varna using the History section within the site.

Varna enjoys a continental climate influenced greatly by the Black Sea with long hot summers slowly giving way to warm autumns and short but sometimes quite cold winter snaps.

The beautiful city of Varna with its stunning beaches represent a fertile tourism playground for much of the surrounding countryside and tourists alike. It becomes a second home whether it’s for a week’s holiday or a full summer stopover as there is always something on offer for everyone to do.
